Question: Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to satate :-

(a) whether it is a fact that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is considering to acquire 350-400 aircrafts in the current Twelfth Plan period;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is also a fact that medium multirole combat aircraft will be finalized in the fiscal 2013-14; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b):The Capital Acquisitions during 12th Plan period for the Indian Air Force (IAF) mainly include Su-30 MKI aircraft, Light Combat Aircraft, Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft, Very Heavy Transport Aircraft, Medium Transport Aircraft, Attack Helicopters, Heavy Lift Helicopters, Medium Lift Helicopters and Basic, Intermediate as well as Advanced Trainer aircraft as per the Long Term Integrated Perspective Plan (2012 -2027) approved by the Defence Acquisition Council.

(c)&(d):The Contract Negotiation for the Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) is presently going on as per the procedure and provisions laid down in Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP)
