Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Pakistan is violating the protocol of Geneva convention especially in the treatment given to Indian diplomats;
(b) if so, the details of the incidents of misbehaviour with Indian diplomat’s by the Government of Pakistan during the last three years, till date;
(c) whether the Government has filed any protest against the violation of Geneva convention;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI S.M. KRISHNA)
(a) to (b) There have been instances of violations by Pakistan of the privileges and facilities to which officials of High Commission of India, Islamabad and members of their families entitled under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.
(c) to (d) The Government of India lodges strong protests to the Government of Pakistan against all cases of harassment of officials of Indian High Commission in Islamabad and reminds them of their obligations under the Vienna Convention. Government remains committed to taking all necessary measures for the safety and security of the personnel in Indian Missions abroad.
