Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade from any recognised university/ institute.

  • Computer Knowledge of MS- Office and library software.

Desirable Qualification

  • PhD / M Phil Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation from any recognised university / institute.

Professional Experience

  • Experience of at least 10 years in a managerial capacity in a library of any recognised university / institution of higher learning / library of a reputed research organisation.

  • Skilled in the usage of advanced library management softwares. Experience of managing hybrid library with vast knowledge of at least electronic resources / databases, use of modern information tools and experience of providing top grade research oriented library services.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Overall Purpose and Role

  • To organise and manage one of India’s finest research library with a wealth of information in print and digital formats.

Job Description*

The job profile inter-alia includes:

  • To work as officer in-charge of Library and to execute all activities pertaining to library.

  • To manage and supervise work of all staff in the library.

  • To forecast, execute and monitor budget allocated to the library.

  • To monitor all AMCs pertaining to the library.

  • To manage subscription of books, newspapers and print online journals.

  • To Supervise Stock Verification of books/periodicals.

  • Technical processing of print/online journals.

  • To download articles, web linking them with the SLIM21 database.

  • To download articles and sending to the users, as per their requirement as well as to create a database on Intranet.

  • To provide reference services as and when required by users.

  • To manage Web-OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).

  • To ensure indexing/abstracting of journals articles and updation of databases.

  • Any other task assigned by the Institute.

  • Candidates presently serving with the Government or Private Sector and shortlisted for the interview must provide a ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE’ from the present employer before/at the time of interview.

General Information

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend written/skill test and interview at MP-IDSA, Delhi

  • Certificates in original are to be produced in support of educational and age eligibility (and category, if applicable) at the time of interview.

  • Education qualification will be calculated as on last date of submission of application.

  • Shortlisted outstation candidates will be paid AC- III tier rail fare on production of tickets, by the shortest route

  • The Institute reserves the right to increase/ decrease the number of positions (category wise) as also fill or not to fill any or all the positions advertised, based on the Institute’s requirements.

  • The Institute reserves the right to offer a higher/lower position to a candidate who has been interviewed, based on his /her aptitude and Institute’s requirement, proviso to the required vacancy existing at the Institute (category wise), on the date of interview, and the candidate’s consent.

  • The Institute reserves the right to cancel recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason.

  • The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for written test / interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible to called for written test / interview all the candidates, the Institute, at its discretion, may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications / experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and other academic achievements and feedback on past performance.
