Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan were started in June, 2010;
(b) if so, whether India had expected that Pakistan would contain infiltration and terror and has desired that Pakistan would take credible action;
(c ) whether Foreign Secretary visited Pakistan to finalise agenda for talks;
(d) whether Pakistan’s main agenda was about Kashmir settlement;
(e) if so, the issues which Foreign Secretary placed before Pakistan and to what extent there has been an agreement and in how many cases there was disagreement; and
(f) if so, the steps that are being taken to reach at Final stage of talks in future?

ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI S.M.KRISHNA)

(a-f) Foreign Secretary held discussions with Pakistan Foreign Secretary on June 24, 2010 in Islamabad to prepare for the visit of External Affairs Minister to Pakistan, from 14-16 July, 2010. During the visit, discussions were held on working out the modalities for restoring trust and confidence in the relationship thereby paving the way for a substantive dialogue on all issues of concern.
