Capt Bisen writes that the Arctic Council’s future is uncertain due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. India and other Asian Observer States can coordinate and push for a more inclusive Arctic Council.

One of the unintended consequences of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has been cessation of scientific exchange between Russia and other countries pertaining to the Arctic region. Initiated by seven of the eight members of the Arctic Council, and followed by several other countries and multilateral organisations, the blackout has been costly, says Capt Bisen.
